Why do I need to crop the image when it’s uploaded?
When you upload something, it asks you to crop the image for the thumbnail only. It does not affect the size or dimensions of your actual image. This thumbnail is displayed in several places, including your user page and image galleries. When clicked, it will show the full version of your uploaded picture, scaled to fit the viewer's screen size. If they click on it again, they will be taken to the full size.
What are the defaults for?
On every user page there are 6 default images. If you don’t set any defaults, it will show the most recent submissions. You can, however, choose to have certain images displayed instead.
How do I set my default images?
From the Menu tray, navigate to your chosen image gallery (My Screenshots, My Pictures, or My Account > Fan Art). This is the gallery management screen, where you can upload and manage your gallery.
On the left are all the images you’ve submitted. To set the defaults, choose up to six images. (They will highlight red when you click them.) Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the “Set Defaults” button.
How do I change to a graphic signature tag?
On your Profile Management page (Menu tray > My Profile), under Post Signature, you'll see a pair of links that will toggle you between Textual and Graphical. Click on "Graphical" and upload your .jpg, .jpeg, or .png signature.
Remember, members get 300 x 30 px, and subscribers get 300 x 60 px.
What types of images can I submit?
The general rule is that .gif, .jpeg, .jpg, and .png images are acceptable. The only exception to this is for signature images, where only .png, .jpeg, and .jpg images are accepted.
Can I submit an animated .gif for my avatar?
Absolutely! As long as the dimensions are not over 50x50 px.
Is there a file-size limit?
There are not file size limits for image submissions, however, some images do adhere to image dimension limits as follow:
Avatars: 50x50 px
Profile ID: 400w x 265h px
Signature: 300w x 30h px
Subscriber Signature: 300w x 60h px
Screenshots, photographs and fan art do not have limits. However, please bear in mind that extremely large pictures can be difficult to view on smaller resolutions.
How large can my images be?
Different images are allowed different sizes, depending on where they're used on the site.
Avatars: 50x50 px
Profile ID: 400w x 265h px
Signature: 300w x 30h px
Subscriber Signature: 300w x 60h px
Screenshots, photographs and fan art are not limited in their dimensions. Please remember that overly large pictures may be harder to see on smaller resolutions. You will also be asked to crop a thumbnail view of these images. This does not affect the full display of the picture, but only gives us a smaller version to display in your image gallery and on your user page.
